Be The Change.

Ciao Bellas,

I know that we're all really busy this holiday season, but I hope that we can all find time and ways to give back in one form or another. To be perfectly honest I got all swept up in the busyness that is life, until last night when I went shopping with my family to purchase things that'll be gifts from our Church, to a group of kids (mostly girls) that are a part of one of our outreach programs. We bought a bunch of coats, candy, and other gifts for these kids...a lot of which I've seen come into Church over the past few weeks (and it's freezing 'round these parts) without coats, in flip flops, etc. I'm freezing my butt off in long sleeves and jeans, so I know that these babies are cold. Shopping for them last night, really reminded me what it's all about: Giving. For me, that's what one of the most beautiful things about celebrating Christmas and the holiday's in general. It's about being able to give and bless others with gifts, much like we were blessed by being given The One who was born in a manger in Bethlehem all those years ago. So this holiday season, I ask that we could all try to find a way to be a blessing to somebody in need out there. I'm aware that economically these are tough times for our country, but I'm a firm believer that one of the best gifts that we can give is our time. So whether you decide to volunteer your time, donate money to Salvation Army (via those red boxes the bell ringers have), donate clothing (via charities like Angel Tree), or even just helping out your elderly neighbor by shoveling their driveway, I ask that you find it in your heart to give something (and it's not what you give, it's the fact that you gave). It's time to stop talking about the change, and start being the change.
