What's In My Makeup Stash: Highlighters & Concealers

I thought I'd share with you guys some of my favorite products to highlight and contour, along with some new and notable products that I've recently purchased. Before we get started, if you're new to the makeup game I just want to clarify some things about highlighting / highlighters. The term is often used to refer to both:

1.  A concealer or foundation that is a shade lighter than your skin tone, that you use on the areas that you want to appear brighter or attract light to (underneath the eyes, down the bridge of the nose, areas of the forehead).

2. A shimmery liquid or powder product that you use to highlight the high points of your face (temples, nose, chin)

Let's get into it!

Black Radiance True Complexion Contour Kit
Hands down my favorite contour palette. I love how warm the contour shade is, and it also has a skin tone shade, and a shimmery golden highlight shade in the palette. It's definitely travel friendly. Check out my review on it here, and you can see it in action in almost all of my makeup videos since last December.

BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Contour Palette
I just got this yesterday, and it contains 4 highlight shades and 6 contour shades. It's a great addition to my makeup kit (products that I use on others), and I can get away with using the darkest shade as a cool toned contour shade. They could stand to add at least 2-3 more contour shades to the palette though, in order to make it brown girl friendly.

Sacha Cosmetics Buttercup Loose Setting Powder
My favorite setting powder EVA. I always use this to set my highlight (concealer), and it has never failed me (never flashes back, locks my concealer in, and banishes fine line formation). Best applied with a damp beauty blender or dry makeup wedge.

L.A. Girl Pro HD Concealers in Fawn (Highlight) and Dark Cocoa (Contour)
Probably the best inexpensive concealers that I've ever come across. I get them for about $3 each at my local beauty supply store. I'd say that they are medium coverage.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC45
A really awesome full coverage concealer. I like to use this over my L.A. Girl Pro HD Concealer in Fawn, and then set it with the Sacha powder. It doesn't settle into fine lines, and it stays put. I just wish that it didn't come in a glass bottle -_- (If you follow me on Snapchat, then you know that I broke my first one the other day, and had to run and buy a replacement). I can't be without it.

Kaylux Cosmetics Highlighters in: And The Winner Is (True Gold), Most Nominated (Light Bronze), and Halftime Show (Soft Pink)
Some of the most poppin' highlighters that I own. The glow that they give you is absolutely amazing. "And The Winner Is" is a very unique true deep gold highlighter, and I reach for it on a regular basis. Review video soon come.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Topaz
One of my favorite gold highlighters. It's lighter than "And The Winner Is" and I love how finely milled it is.

e.l.f. Ultimate Kabuki Brush
The best contour brush that I own. Point blank period. I picked it up in the Bullseye Boutique (Target) the other day for $10, and I'm so glad that I did. You can see it in action in my upcoming makeup tutorial, which features a bunch of the new products that I recently purchased.

Becca Limited Edition Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Blushed Copper (which is now available in blush form)
A really beautiful coppery highlight. It also works really well as a blush (and is probably better used as a blush on light to medium skin tones, but do you girl). It's now available in Becca's Blush Collection, as the highlighter itself was limited edition.

So there it is y'all, these are some of the highlight and contour products that I thought were worth highlighting (no pun intended...ok, maybe just a little). For reference, here are some of the foundations that I've been matched to

What are some of your favorite products to highlight and contour? Let me know in the comments!

Fly Fierce Fab X Tobi Collab

Disclosure: The good people over at Tobi sent me some dresses to style and play with, and I'm really excited to share the looks that I put together with you guys. I enjoyed putting this all together, and I only share things and products with you guys that I genuinely like, and feel fit with the overall Fly Fierce Fab vibe and aesthetic. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Look 1: Make You Do A Triple Take

This dress is totally something that I can see myself wearing on a night out with my sisterhood. Y'all know how I LOVE sequins, so this dress was right up my alley. If you prefer more low-key laid back looks though, you should check out the causal dresses  or the skater dresses on Tobi's site

Look 2: Not So Secret Garden

Bella Dolman Sleeve Midi Dressc/o Tobi

It's starting to get warmer out (Hello Summer!), but I'm still gonna find a reason to wear this somewhere (with central air) soon. I love how it fits. There are bunch of other cute long sleeve dresses on Tobi's site too. They also have some cute white dresses, which could be perf for the upcoming white parties this summer

Cannn we just take a minute to appreciate the back of this dress though? I did sew the front of the dress closed a little bit, because I didn't want to show a lot of cleavage. Wearing the right bra is really important with this kinda of dress, and Tobi has a bunch of cute bras on their site as well

Look 3: Shadowplay

I'm obsessed with how the light was hitting the glitter in this dress, but I figured I should also show you guys what it looks like in more natural lighting. Btw, this dress is a total glitter party. I was leaving a trail of glitter everywhere I went, but I didn't care. I loved it. This just might come to Hotlanta with me this summer.

I paired this dress with some glittery platforms from my closet (I told y'all that I love shiny things, I keep these kinds of things in my closet), and Tobi has some cute heels on their site as well. I saw some strappy heeled sandals on there that are calling my name.

If you decide to order something from Tobi, new customers get 50% their first offer! (so definitely take advantage of that if you place an order. We luh the deals #SaveCoins)

Which one of these looks was your favorite? Let me know in the comments below!

S/O to my sister Angelique, who is my trusty photographer. Y'all can check out life through her lens on her Instagram: @Sades_Shots.
